Dental bonding is a cosmetic and restorative option used to repair chipped, cracked, discolored, or misaligned teeth and is an alternative to veneers.
The tooth surface is lightly prepared, a bonding agent is applied, and a tooth-colored resin is sculpted onto the tooth. The material is then hardened, shaped, and polished to look natural.
Bonding is usually completed in one visit and can greatly improve a tooth’s appearance. However, the resin is not as strong as natural enamel and may stain, chip, or wear over time. Bonding typically lasts three to five years before needing repair.
