Dr. Melissa Owen grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where her love for dentistry began while watching her father care for patients in his dental practice. She earned her undergraduate degree from James Madison University and her dental degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. After graduating in 2015, she completed a General Practice Residency with the Veterans Administration near Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Owen has practiced in North Carolina and Charleston before returning to Wilmington, a community she and her family are proud to call home. She recently purchased the practice from Dr. Jonathan Ludwig and is honored to continue the legacy of care he established. Dr. Ludwig will remain with the practice as an associate dentist, allowing patients to continue seeing a familiar and trusted provider.

Dr. Owen is committed to clear communication, patient satisfaction, and providing high-quality, compassionate dental care. She enjoys building lasting relationships with her patients and stays current through participation in local study clubs and ongoing continuing education.

Outside of the office, Dr. Owen enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time at the beach with her husband, their two daughters, and their beagle mix, Sammy.
